POLICIES AND GUIDELINES TO MINIMIZE HEALTH RISKS AT CHURCH

Please observe the following policies that have been developed to minimize health risks while at church

Before Attending Service:
  • Wear freshly laundered clothing to service.

  • Take your family members’ temperature before attending service. If fever or flu-like symptoms exist, or if you don’t feel well, please stay home and seek medical attention. We will also scan each person’s temperature as they enter the sanctuary building.

  • Those attending should not exhibit any COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with anyone confirmed with COVID-19 in the past 21 days. Symptoms include 1.) Cough, or, 2.) Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing. They also include two or more of the following: 1.) fever, 2.) chills, 3.) shaking with chills, 4.) muscle pain, 5.) head-ache, 6.) sore throat, or, 7.) recent loss of taste or smell. See CDC guidelines at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus.

  • If underlying medical conditions exist, seek medical attention prior to attending service. The following conditions may put a person at higher risk to contract COVID-19 or other virus: age over 65, individuals with conditions such as but not limited to asthma, HIV, diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease and/or cancer.

  • Refrain from eating or drinking before service (unless medically necessary) to minimize use of the restrooms.

  • Practice good hygiene. Wash hands frequently for a minimum of 20 seconds with hot water and soap. See CDC guidelines at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus.

During Service:
  • The California guidelines require church congregants and children over age 2 to wear face-coverings while at church. The CDC recommends them as well. You may create your own face covering. For ideas, see: www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/downloads/DIY-cloth-face-covering-instructions.pdf

  • The CDC has recommended that churches avoid public singing. We will leave that decision to you. You can choose to participate in singing or worship silently while the worship team leads.

  • Everyone attending services will be screened for fever at the main rear door entrance to the Sanctuary on Downey Avenue.

  • Use restrooms only if absolutely necessary. If you become ill during a service, please leave the facility immediately and seek medical attention.

  • Practice social distancing. Remain 6 feet apart from others except for your family members. Please do not shake hands, embrace, or touch anyone except your own family members. See CDC guidelines at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus.

  • We want your family members to be able to sit together. However, please sit together in alternating rows once you are inside the Sanctuary. That means there will not be other people sitting in the row in front or behind your family.

  • Children and youth must remain with their family during services. Play areas will be closed and children should not play with kids from other families while at church. We anticipate that these state restrictions will be relaxed soon so we can modify this policy.

  • Small groups and ministries will not meet until the Governor relaxes the restrictions. There will not be any adult, youth, or children’s classes or ministries except the main Sunday morning service and the Wednesday night Prayer Team. All other ministries will resume when the Governor lifts the remaining restrictions on meeting.

  • Bathrooms and hard surfaces such as tables, doors, knobs, switches, handrails, and plates will be sanitized and disinfected before and after each service. Hand sanitizer will be available on the tables at the rear of the sanctuary and at the Sanctuary entrance. Despite these precautions, please try to avoid unnecessarily touching surfaces.

  • We will not pass offering plates to collect your tithes and offerings during the service. Rather, please place your offerings in the designated plates on the tables at the rear of the Sanctuary or give by using US mail or the online giving option on our website.

  • Air conditioning will be used to circulate the air during the service. Doors will be open allowing fresh air to come in. You may also consider bringing a personal handheld fan.

  • On Communion Sundays, we will provide individually wrapped communion elements on the tables at the rear of the Sanctuary. Please obtain your elements before sitting down so that we can share together at the appropriate time.

After Service:
  • Please limit socializing and exit immediately after service. You should observe “stay at home” orders before and after service. Snacks and/or drinks will not be available after church.

  • It is recommended that you wash your clothing immediately after service.

  • If you experience symptoms of COVID-19 after attending a service, please go to your medical provider immediately.

  • If you are in a vulnerable category for Covid-19, please consider staying home and participating with us at a distance via You Tube, Facebook, or our church website at www.trinitydowney.com.

  • The nature of this pandemic makes this situation fluid. Please stay updated with changes or protocols through the news broadcasts or by visiting the Church Website.

Thank you for honoring these policies while at church.
